Jack Palance died Friday of natural causes at his home in Montecito, California. He was 87 years old.

City Slickers, Shane, Batman (1989), Young Guns, Oklahoma Crude, The Professionals, Barabbas, Panic in the Streets to name just a few.

I thought he died years and years ago. I swear I even remember a tribute to him. Maybe he came back as a zombie?

But when I first saw this thread I though "Jack Valenti" and started to get excited.

I always enjoyed the movies he was associated with. A very unique talent. You knew what he was thinking when you looked into his eyes. May he rest in Peace.

Yes, he was a good one. Old school heavy. I loved him in City Slickers.

Agreed. I'm not sure which I liked better, though...his performance in "City Slickers," or his performance on stage when he won his Oscar.

He was terrific in "Shane," but for some reason, one of my favorite movie quotes belongs to him from Tim Burton's first "Batman." When he's setting up Jack Napier, Palance's Carl Grissom grabs him and in a gravelly whisper, tells him, "You...are my number one...guy." Not so much the line, but his unique delivery. Always the pro.
