I like to listen to music at work; I usually have WMP running on my PC. I put it in the 'random' play mode, but you'd be surprised how often the same song 'randomly' comes up. Is there any way to have a sort of 'look-up' table to keep track? That is, a song can't be played twice until all songs have been played. I think part of the answer is 'don't use WMP' so any other, hopefully free, suggestions?

yeah...dont use WMP. Many other programs like winamp have a function where it will shuffle the songs on the playlist in a random fashion, but it will loop and repeat the whole works again. I guess the ideal solution is to add more songs.

Yes, Winamp www.wimamp.com is quite the program. If you want to spend a small bit for the professional download of Winamp, then you can burn your MP3 files to disc, or do a reverse in making audio files for audio Cd through Winamp.

Also, you can set preferences in Winamp to play all kinds of video and audio files- or custon choice of either media playback.

You can also listen to radio stations and watch all sorts of streaming video through Winamp as well .. via Shoutcast-a streaming service from Winamp ..

WMP is so proprietary, that it's just sicking to where I've hidden it from any usage ...

Winamp sux! Too fucking complicated and a hog.

As long as I have the repeat function set to "off", WMP plays each tune just once and then stops.
