I'm just wondering how many theater managers and projectionists actually read these forums, even if they don't post (or even register).

All I can say is that since posting about various 'bad presentation' aspects on these forums, the standard of presentation at the theaters I go to seems to have improved.

Remember when I posted about using threading leader as spacer film to cover lens changeovers? Vue Sheffield seems to have started using black film instead now, and/or placed the cue so that the douser drops before this bit of film can be projected. Before, you used to see a couple of seconds of the (very dirty) threading leader projected on-screen before the cue triggered the turret and masking change!

In addition, the Cineworld Bradford seems to have got the dousers fixed. It drops at the end of the feature, so that you no longer see the film tailing out as the turret rotates back to flat - though the lamp stays on. Incidentally, they use Century projectors.

I'm also seeing a great deal more effort being put into threading the projector in frame to begin with - very few movies I go to have the picture bouncing around during the first few seconds as they frame it!

Perhaps they read here (or someone else in the chain read it and called them up).

But if you don't work at a place and want to ensure that those changes happen... talk to the people at the individual theater instead. Make your complaints/comments to them directly.

Actually, there are a lot more than just mgrs and operators/projectionists that read these posts.

Including in this are the executives and presidents of companies and these people will not 'expose' themselves for the basic sake of the potential in harming their reputation at their respective place of employment.

Yep. The execs (or anyone else) that read here likely look at it from the perspective that it's best to fix the reported problem at the same time as not confirming it (by posting here).

Let's see:

A) A few years back I sold my six screen business plan to a guy who found me on Film-Tech (through a Google search).

B) I have had total strangers come up to me (in my theatres) and strike up conversations that had to do with my posts on Film-Tech. All positive stuff being discussed.

C) I have met some of the coolest people in our Industry through Film-Tech.

Hell yeah - It's made a difference in my life and I hope that I made a difference in the lives of others.
