To anyone who will be screening "One Missed Call" tonight:
I may be in that movie. Look for me in a scene where there is a TV show being made of an exorcism. I'm the engineer sitting with all the TV equipment (if I didn't end up on the cutting room floor).

The producers of the movie hired a company I do work for, to provide a real looking TV system for the set. They hired me to be the engineer/video person. There were a number of shots that I was in, so I hope some of them made it into the movie.

Let me know if you see me. You need not critique my acting ability (or lack there of). If you need to know what I look like, see the picture to the left.

Well, I finally saw this movie. I have two quick shots, three if you count the shot of my hand pushing buttons on a BVW-50 portable betacam deck. The scene is about half way through the film. My first shot, I'm just sitting there doing my "engineering" thing. The second shot, I am asked "did we get that" (did it record), and I shake my head slowly, with a frightened look (all hell has been breaking loose in the exorcism).

Hay Mom, look at me, I'm in a movie!

Way cool, Bruce! Congratulations! I'll go see it just for that. [Wink]
[thumbsup]

So, when you shot the bit of shaking your head, was someone there feeding you the line? Or did they just say, "okay, Bruce, now shake your head slowly"?

I didn't even know this was a real movie until I saw a review in the newspaper. I know, I know, what am I doing with a newspaper when I'm illiterate? Well, I like to appear smart sometimes. Anyway, congrats!

Bruce,
That ham was well done, not burned. You should look through the port and check it out. Don't blink, you might miss it.

Tim,
They just told me to shake my head.

So now, I guess I will have to get the DVD when it comes out. ...That's strange, my cell phone says I have 1 missed call.

Cool. I wasn't sure if you were in a closeup, or a master shot with the dialogue going on around you.

This is a perfect illustratration of Eisenstein's Film Form: emotion can be conveyed purely by juxtaposition of shots. I.e., a particular shot can carry any number of meanings or emotions, depending on the shots that come before and after it.

Context.

LOL! Precisely. [Smile]

Tim,

The head shaking shot was a two shot. The person that asked the question, and me.

Something interesting: since the system I set up was a real, working multi camera TV production system, I had a waveform monitor/vector scope there. The director thought that it looked really neat, so you see it in the shot where my hand is working the betacam VCR.

Just want to let you know that your film is playing in my 2nd largest Dolby house this week!

I'm just waiting for the word to get around so the crowds will come...

Just put my picture up in the loby, and things will start to happen (I'm not saying what though). Do me a favor, keep the darts put away.
