Author Topic: SPDIF-to-Analog Interface Phil Hill I love my cootie bug Posts: 7595 From: Hollywood, CA USA Registered: Mar 2000 posted 02-01-2008 11:30 PM                  A certain computer dumbass would like to hookup his laptop with a SPDIF outlet to a 5.1 analog amp system with RCA connections. Is there such a conversion/interface device? The laptop has a puny built-in stereo amp, that just doesn't cut it. Can be pricy since most of those I found on google are focusing on people doing recordings.  |  IP: Logged Robert Minichino Master Film Handler Posts: 350 From: Haskell, NJ, USA Registered: Dec 2005 posted 02-02-2008 12:11 AM                        If the SPDIF connection is carrying a 5.1 signal, then it's AC3 (aka Dolby Digital) encoded, and you will need an AC3 decoder/surround processor.
