The rumor over the weekend was a 4th Bourne movie would be green lighted, now its official over at Hollywood.com they are reporting.

quote:
HOLLYWOOD - Matt Damon is set to reprise his role as forgetful hitman Jason Bourne in a fourth action movie.

The movie star hinted 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum would be his third and final film in the franchise, but a day after that film picked up three Oscars for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing, movie executives have announced he'll be back as Bourne.

British moviemaker Paul Greengrass, who directed the two Bourne sequels, will also be back for the fourth installment.

At least they are keeping the successful team of Damon and Greengrass together, wether you like his directing style or not he works well with Matt.

At least they got that right. The role is totally forgetful. [Razz]

But Brad.... at least your favorite film of last year won two oscars for sound... Lets face it... if they don't get the DP a tripod for this shoot they should at least shoot him!

Sound and editing can be done well on ANY film! What does the Matt Damon franchise have to do with its win? Even if the general public noticed and appreciated how good the sound and editing was in this movie, are they really going to want to come to a fourth Bourne in order to see some more fantastic editing and sweet sound work?

If the executives want to stretch this thing out, so be it. But this seems like a vacuous reason for it, a non-sequitur, even if it's now officially "an Oscar winning" franchise.

I've never seen any of the three current films, and the Oscar for sound isn't going to make me care about Matt Damon enough to want to rent it.

Actually it has ALOT to do with the franchise. It should be easy to see even to someone never involved in production . What it brings is $Lots$ $Of$ $money$ to get the best... Location Sound Mixer, Foley people, Re-Recording people, Re-Recording stage, and the needed amount of time to do the mix until the engineers are happy with it. You're not going to find these folks working on the next Adam Sandler Film!!

But Mark this just goes to show how fucked up the Academy votors are. Bourne Desperation or whatever it is called did NOT deserve the best sound mixing and editing award. That SHOULD have gone to Ratatoiulle, Die Hard 4 or Hairspray! All of those had phenomenal sound mixes, whereas the Bourne crap was nothing special at all.

A movie need not be an action movie to have the best sound mixing of the year.

Frank Marshall says he's going to make a Bourne movie every year or two for the next 20 years just to piss Brad off. THE BOURNE DESPERATION is slated for 2022 and Brad will get credit for the title. The shaky-cam has already been reserved. [Wink]
