I was informed today that an old friend of mine passed away this last weekend, Guy K. Eriksen of the Sacramento California area passed away sometime Saturday night at his home, I believe he was 61 years old. He was a member for close to 40 years of I.A.T.S.E. local 252 of Sacramento and was #1 on the seniority list. Guy was a professional projectionist, he loved films of every kind. I had the pleasure of knowing him for the last 33 years. I installed the equipment in his home screening room many years ago. Guy worked in most the Sacramento theatres through his career. He was a very meticulous and caring person. I wanted to post this so other friends like Bob Koch will know as he had no survivors, thus only a few who knew him were notified. I will post more when I find out what funeral arraingements will be made.

Hi John - I didn't know Guy but am sorry to hear this news.

You should put his name in the subject line so people will know who the thread is about.

Hope you are doing well...stop by if you're ever thru here!

Hi Frank, Thanks for the kind words. Guy was quite a charactor! Mike, I am glad to hear from you! I've been busy the last few years, I gave up the road trips and now I am working in Twin Falls as a mechanic at a local ready mix company, nice mon-fri job weekends off! A lot of stuff has transpired since I last saw you. I will email you. Take care,

John:
Good to know you`re still kicking and sorry to hear about Guy. I`d known him since he was a kid in Orland and I worked for RCA Photophone. He came to Sacto when Local 252 was still alive and spent many years working in it. Last time I saw him was in the Elks Club in Chico at Abel Marshall`s memorial service. Abe was the last president of 252 and great guy;stagehand, projectionist. studio location worker, supreme.Don`t ever get as old as I am and have to watch as all your contemporaries quietly leave.

John:

I worked as a permit man (out of IA Local 577) for IA Local 252 back in the 60's. I must have at least met Guy. It's always sad when a brother leaves us. My deepest sympathy.

Hi John,
I'm really sorry to hear the news. I'm so glad I got to spend an afternoon with you and Guy at his home a few summers ago. Oddly enough, I was cleaning out my wallet just yesterday of all days and found the scrap of paper Guy gave to me with his name and address the first time I met him at the Colfax theater about 12 years ago. I really wish I had made more of an effort to keep in contact with him. Rest in peace.

Thanks everyone. There will be a memorial service for Guy on Tuesday April 15th at the Portuguese Hall on Taylor Road in Newcastle, California. He will be laid to rest in the Newcastle Cemetary at a later date. I will be leaving for California on Sunday and will be attending the service. The exectutor of his estate hopes that this is not too short of notice to those who may travel a long distance.

Dick, Sorry I did not call you.. this is the second close friend I lost in the last 3 weeks! I have been busy helping the widow of my friend who passed here in Wendell the last few weeks. Boy, it's quite a wake up call to our mortality!

I was a member of 252 from `76 until the end of its existence. I was truly sorry to hear of Guy's passing. He took me under his wing when I was just a trainee. Under Guy. I began to learn the craft of projection. Particularly Simplex E-7's and Peerless Magnarcs. Guy "lived and breathed" projection; he was unlike anyone else I've ever met. Farewell old friend, amd "thanks for the memories".

Sorry to hear this, John. It's sad to see old friends pass. They take such an amount of history with them.
