Gas is getting extremely expensive!

Yesterday, I paid $1.60 a gallon for the cheap stuff.

I know in other parts of the country it is much worse. Has anybody seen it cheaper than this?

It's $1.69 in central Indiana today, down from $1.76 last weekend. You can buy a gallon of milk for the same price. [Mad]

I paid $1.85 for regular unleaded here in the Milwaukee, WI area two days ago. I think it might be up to $1.89 now.

Here in the Seattle area the "lowest" I've seen is $1.86 at Arco and up to $2.03 at most others. Stations near the freeway are about $1.99 to $2.10!
Has anyone out there heard a reasonable explaination for the recent hikes, or do we know already!
Have a great and safe holiday weekend all.
Pete

Nobody will believe this. In Venezuela:
$1 = Bs.1598
1 liter of gasoline 91 oct: Bs.70 = $0.04
1 gallon = 3.78541 ltr
1 gallon = $0.16

1 liter of "green" gasoline 95 oct: Bs.97 = $0.06
1 gallon = $0.23

The people say the Gas is too expensive...
I think it's a waste of money.

Although I started a thread on this topic a few months ago that received over fifty hits, I am very glad another one has taken it's place for discussion.

My regular station now charges $2.24.9 for the premium grade I prefer to use for my car but I have found others that charge about 6 cents cheaper for the same Union 76 gas I buy. I now shop around for the best prices. There were times when most of my commuting could be done by taking the bus and a full tank of gas costing about $27.00 would last almost two weeks. With the bus strike now in Honolulu and the entire island of Oahu here in Hawaii, a tank would only last about five days. [Frown]
