That's news to us. Unfortunately we're dependent on Park Circus to get that us if they do come up with it.

Bump.

For Christmas this year at the Norwood Theatre (in Norwood, MA., not related to me), we will be showing Miracle on 34th Street (yes, the original one). Screenings will be on December 7th and 8th.

In January of 2014, we have a Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire series, with Flying Down to Rio, Top Hat, and Follow the Fleet playing on 1/22, 1/23, and 1/24, respectively.

In February, we have Princess Bride booked for 2/12-2/14.

All films are in 35mm and will screen with cartoon shorts. Check with the theatre for showtimes.

THE TERMINATOR, the best film of all time, will be playing on June 14th and 17th at Century & Cinemark theatres as part of their classics series. I've been to a few of these and have been generally happy with the presentation. It's smart for them to screen this before the new film in the franchise is released.

JAWS, also the best film of all time, will be playing on June 21 and 24th at multiple theater chains. This is a 40th anniversary Fathom event. Does anyone know if these showings are better than they used to be? What can I expect, a 4K DCP or a DVD?

It should be a DCP. 2K or 4K I am not certain.

I should have posted this sooner, but....
this Wednesday (7/15), the Somerville Theatre in Somerville, MA. will be screening The Wild Bunch in 70mm 6-track mag. They have a few other 70mm titles booked as well (The Master and 2001).

They are showing other interesting titles this summer in 35mm, but the list is too long to post here.

Though not all of the titles falling under "classic" the Cinerama in Seattle is about to run its "Fan Film Series". (rather than show end of the summer dredge!) Titles include:

No Country for Old Men
Vertigo (has played here in 70mm)
The Big Lebowski
Forrest Gump
Citizen Kane
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Inception
The Wizard of Oz
The Sound of Music
The Godfather
Spirited Away
American Graffiti
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Zombieland
Mad Max (1979)
Ghostbusters
The Blues Brothers
Almost Famous
On the Waterfront
Last of the Mohicans (has played here in 70mm)
Pulp Fiction
Donnie Darko
Moulin Rouge!
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
My Neighbor Tortoro
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Fight Club
Casablanca
Top Gun (has played here in 70mm)
Blade Runner: The Final Cut (original has played here in 70mm)
Die Hard
Sunset Blvd
Lawrence of Arabia (has played here in 70mm)
Chinatown
Taxi Driver
Labyrinth
The Shawshank Redemption
Rear Window
Big trouble in Little China
The Sting
Blue Velvet
The Hunt for Red October (has played here in 70mm)
Akira

All titles listed as Laser Projection. I recently caught a screening of Jaws here with the new projection system and the presentation was stunning. If all these other titles have the same level of presentation then audiences are in for a great experience.

That show was one night only and sold out. I hope trend continues. To see a classic presented flawlessly on a giant screen with a full audience is an experience like no other. When Roy Scheider takes his final shot at the shark the audience (not just the shark) exploded!

That is an amazing line-up. Every city should have a theater like the Cinerama.

A classic is any movie worth seeing on the big screen again after its original release.

Harkins Theaters will be showing Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in their big "Cine Capri" and "Cine 1" auditoriums on Tuesday, February 26... thanks in part to me. [Smile]

I tweeted them and emailed their Guest Services requesting they play it on those premium screens, which are ~70' wide. I argued that fans can see these films at home on decent-sized home theaters any time they want, but by showing Indy on truly giant screens, they will give people a reason to leave home.

I also mentioned that I have attended several of their previous Tuesday Night Classics and the Cine Capri always had a smaller crowd than the TNC films, despite the current release showing there (I peeked).

I hope it does well and they do this more often. I intend to "Andy Dufresne" them and pester them twice as much now. [Wink]

If you live in Denver, SoCal, AZ, OKC or DFW, go see the second best Indiana Jones film on the big screen!

My understanding is that the Cine-Capri is not equipped for film. I assume they will use a DCP and not the Blu-ray. Is there any way I can tell for sure while watching?

I wish they were showing a pristine 70MM or even 35mm print, but I'm happy to see it on the big screen, regardless.

I'll definitely post my thoughts after I see it.
