So what does an old showman do when he’s no longer active in the theatre? He creates a website – at least this one did which is nothing short of a miracle considering my lack of computer knowledge. But the company that hosts it made it easy enough. Besides I had to because my wife and I became used to eating many years ago and until I get back in the business I need to continue to generate income. So please check it out. You’ll find it at www.alcoimportsplus.com and perhaps you’ll find something there you want or at least those of you who know more about computers than I can tell me how I can make it more appealing.

Robert - just a very quick suggestion - most of the text on your home page is in all-caps (uppercase). You should change that - it would make the text easier to read and more appealing to the eye.

And, on the "Buy this" buttons the whole button should be clickable -- the way it is, you need to hover the mouse over just the bottom edge of the button, or in some cases the "border" of the button, before it becomes clickable. (I didn't check all of the buttons or all of the pages but that's the way it is on a couple of pages.)

Hey you asked! [Smile]

(Edit: Fixed a typo)

I concur with Mike.

Also, when you tell the person to "VISIT www.onlineauction.com www.ebid.net www.craigslist.com AND SEARCH FOR ALCO DISTRIBUTING." you should have those sites be actual links.

Clicking on some of those Buy This buttons puts the wrong item in my cart. For example if I click on Item C, "Model Wooden Squarerigger" @ $39.95, I get Item D "stainless steel" @ $24.95 in my cart. If I click on Item B, I get Item C in the cart. Etc. Also it might be helpful to know if (for example) that ship is 3" in length, or 24", or whatever. [Smile]

You've done a amiable job as a first effort. Welcome to the wonderful world of being a webmaster.

As you develop your site try to have a description of each item you have for sale. One could click on its picture to open another window with a larger picture and a description.

In addition to earlier comments about making URLs hot links, you may also consider having your email address bring up an email window when the user clicks on it.

Consider relabeling the "Buy It" buttons to something like "Add to Cart" or "Purchase". Buy It seems a little harsh to me.

Just my thoughts...

---Rick

Thanks for the input guys. I corrected the "Buy Now" button problem Dave. I apparently had several buttons mislabeled. Now I'll work on the other suggestions. I'll have to call on my computer geek son to answer my "How do I do this" questions. He's been very helpful (in fact he designed the logo at the top). But I am getting a little tired of his "Dad, I told you that a hundred times" response.
