This happens to be the scam of choice nowadays with many products that are consumable (skin care, vitimins, bowel cleansers, in other words, all manner of snake oil products) -- they set up automatic reordering on your card. There was a piece on NIGHTLINE just last week -- they set your first payment as a cool $9.99 a bottle, but then comes the "automatic" reorder, not even next month, but in 15 days, at $69.99. Thousands of complaints are lodged with Better Business Bureaus and DA's offices in multiple states every year about this crap because as Bill said, once they've got your credit card info, you can't get them to stop these shippments or charges.
Easiest way to stop them -- don't cancel the card, just call the credit card company and tell them you want to change your account number. If they give you a hard time (the the swill eating swine), call them in a day and tell they you lost your card. You should routenely change your card numbers anyway, once a year or so, just as a proactive preventative security measure.
