I've just got a really groovy app called 'ootunes' for the iPhone that gives me around 10,000 radio stations from around the world.

Please name your local and/or favorite station so I can add it to the favorites and hear what you are all listening to.

We have a billion radio stations here in Denver. I have never heard radio that is worth listening to, it's worse than TV. There are so many ads as well, it is very irritating. What I hate most are "DJs" who talk and play pranks, those are the worst. Bottom line: Radio is only for 13 year olds.

You need to try some stations for grown ups then.

I can't stand the 'dual act' announcers or the pranksters either. I never listen to them, but there are some very informative stations around he place...you just need to look.

Thanks Mike. I have them now.

Not that I don't believe you, but when and why would I need to listen to the radio in the first place? I prefer my own music or silence when driving.

Mine are:

KNPR 88.9MHz - Nevada Public Radio - NPR News/Talk by day - BBC World Service by night - My favorite since they had both the extremely refined taste and class to have me (along with four others) on as a guest this morning, talking about unemployment on their signature "State of Nevada" morning talk show. [Cool]

KCNV 89.7MHz - Nevada Public Radio - Classical

KUNV 91.5MHz - UNLV's station - Jazz and NPR

KWNR 95.5MHz - "New Country" - Once in a while

KSNE 106.5MHz - "Sunny" - AC - Once in a while

The rest of 'Vegas radio is pure dreck - a ghetto wasteland. Like Joe, I have enough music on hand that I rarely need to go anywhere but my own library. I am always researching to add more to the collection, usually listening to streams. Lately I've been paying attention more to Japanese movie and anime soundtracks.

I've never heard of that one. I looked it up and it says it's under construction.

I usually listen to:

WBUR - 90.9 FM - NPR news and talk (when I have time to spare)
WBZ - 1030 AM - commercial news and talk (when I am in a hurry or want traffic reports)

We have a country station -- KIKC, 101.3 FM and 1250 AM. The FM side plays the current country dreck that sounds like bad '70s rock, and the AM plays "classic" country dreck from the 70s.

The station is so far behind the times they don't even have a website, so it'd be a miracle if you found their signal on the internets.

If I am in the mood to listen to radio, I get on iTunes and tune into one of the hundreds of stations on there. A lot of them are commercial free and you can get your genre as narrow as you want. I like one called "Reality One Radio" -- not sure where its based, but they play a nice mix of music from '70s to now.
