For those of us who LOVE curved screens but hate their geometric distortion, here's what you can do in the digital world that you just can't do in the film world:

Correct-o-Curve software

He doesn't mention that you have to be in the middle of the theatre when doing the correction. Also, don't hate him for calling 1080p "high rez" when he's standing in the middle of a movie theatre.

Frank I tried this very system from Chris Brackenbury. Chris was great to deal with. While they claim the system is ready for Hidef it does not work well with anything 1080. It is basically a super PC with a few DVI/HDSDI input/output cards and their custom software. The software really is slick. Running HD through the computer degrades the image. Last time I talked with them they were working on a way to bypass stages of the PC to avoid image degrading with HD content.

Since I am lusting for a JVC DLA-RS35U D-ILA projector for my home theatre, if I can find someone who wants to buy my children that is, and I certainly would like to put in a curved screen as I have lived very happily with a multiple curve 3:4 screen for decades, this software would be cool IF they can get it to be transparant to image resolution. I will live with the geometric distortion of a curve (it's only 10ft wide -- the curve won't be that severe to begin with) long before I will sacrifice picture quality to it.
