This really takes the cake and deserves its own thread.

Link to "I am better than you because I will do anything Steve Jobs says to be my own individual" attitude dating website

Whatever.

I like Star Trek but I don't go around wearing Spock ears and reciting rules, chapter and verse from Starfleet Regulations.

I like Apple, too, but I'm not going to walk around waving my iPhone around like an idiot. Why, I don't even have an iPhone. They're still too expensive for me.

If nothing else, you can consider that website a containment area for fanboys. [Wink]

I'm gonna get an iPad and then wear it on an armband while I jog -- just so everyone knows I have one and I use it all the time.

The only down-side is that I'll have to take up jogging.

Mike, I can't wait to join as well! Maybe we can go on a date through the site!!!

It says it is launching EXCLUSIVELY on Apple products. How do they plan to stop Windows users from looking in? I know browsers send data about what platform they are running, will they really use this to prevent certain people from looking at the site? I am going to have to try and look at it on one of my Windows machines just to see what kind of rude message I get.

Here's an amusing CNN.com video on just this subject.

About a year and a half ago I heard a news story on NPR that brand-loyalty uses the same parts of the brain as religion.

Looks like you don't need to move to a secluded town in the South American rain forest to drink the Coolaid anymore.

"You . . . took what others had done, you made improvements, you package it, and (hits table) now you wanna sell it, you gotta sell it."

It's amazing that people don't get that Apple is run by a bunch of greedy Ferengi. They're out to "make the world a better place" or "launch a revolution," they're out to get paid, often by obsoleting hte very products they pawned off on you just three or four years prior.

With all due respect, I think a devotion to NPR is guided by the same part of the brain. They've been serving up their own "Kool-Aid"... but I'll stop because political discussions aren't allowed here.

And neither are jabs at religion. Not every religious movement ends in mass suicides. [Roll Eyes]

I don't think there are any brands that deserve total and complete loyalty. I love Lionel trains but that doesn't stop me from putting a cool MTH car on my train layout. And, I don't think my own religion has EVERYTHING right either.

Did I insult your religion because you are a Jones follower?

Otherwise, I don't know why the fuck you are pissed off at what I said. NPR's credibility notwithstanding, they were reporting a sound scientific study.

There are FANATICS that ruin every human endeavour, religion, movies, and computer gadgets included.

You can insult my non-suicidal religion all day. Lots of people do. It's just not allowed here.

But I make one swipe at NPR and wow! Look out! Ironic reaction in a discussion of fanatics.
