With all these platforms out there, Android, Windows Mobile, I-Phone I think it would be nice to have the film-tech in Mobile mode. Lately I've been using a lot my HTC Hero to browse the site and it is good although the constant zoom in/out gives me a bit of a hustle. Perhaps something can be done?

My wife and I are going to finally get "smart phones" this Christmas (providing we can find some really smart ones) so this would be a welcome thing.

Whatever works for you. As Brad's so busy right now, just make the cheque out to 'John Wilson'. I'll make sure he gets it.

I trust you completely. I will even leave it blank. I am certain you will take only a tiny small amount of money.

I don't like mobile sites because they don't provide as many options as a normal site does. I have the Droid X and since it has a big screen and it has zoom options, I can see and use any webpage just fine including Film-Tech. The navigation pane icons on the left are small and I have big fingers, but I can easily zoom with two fingers and then make the icons bigger for easier selection.

What I don't like is when I try to access a webpage like Facebook or ebay which will not let me load the normal sites if I want to. The mobile version and the Droid App are very limited in what you cand do with them.

We were talking about possible changes for the site, not specifically for a mobile version or anything, but things that would definitely make it more mobile friendly (such as bigger buttons located at the bottom instead of the side and getting rid of that blasted auto-refreshing chat window etc etc etc). Also discussed was updating to vBulletin. Granted, things like this and beyond would be a HUGE undertaking since there is a lot of custom forum programming currently in place which you won't find on other forums. Adam and Daryl would have a lot of work to do. I would have to redesign new buttons and I could handle a lot of vBulletin tasks but this is something that will not come soon nor easily. I believe it can be done and made to work well (actually better), though. Hang in there.

As for mobile vs real versions of web sites on mobile devices, use the Atomic Web browser on iPhone/iPod Touch and set it up to identify itself as a real web browser instead of a mobile one and you will never get mobile pages again. I'm sure non-iPhone mobile devices have something like this, right?

Of course! Just thought of something else...can you please write your bank name, account number and pin number on a piece of paper when you send it? Oh, might as well drop your credit card in there too (just for safe keeping, you know).

Yes (thankfully).

The stock Android browser can be set to show standard versions of web pages instead of the mobile versions. Press Menu, tap "Settings" (you may have to press "more" to bring up an on screen menu for "settings"), un-check "Mobile View." While there you can do a lot of other house-keeping activities with the web browser. Edit: You need to have the Android web browser running to bring up the browser's settings menu.

The Dolphin web browser for Android also has a non-Mobile view setting. I don't know about some of the other competing Android web browsers such as xScope, SkyFire, Opera Mini, Fennec (Mobile Firefox Beta for Android).

Not sure about Facebook, but if you go to the mobile ebay site (not an ap like for BlackBerry) at the bottom it says "view ebay in mobile/classic." Click classic and you're there.

With all the film-techers that are on Facebook I'm surprised there isn't an official Film-Tech presence there. (Or is there and I missed it?)

I'm just so used to seeing the "Facebook" logo on every single website anymore, it's kind of surprising this site doesn't have one.

I don't know what the point would be of having a Film-Tech Facebook fan page.

A Facebook page might be a duplication of efforts. I have all my Facebook friends from here organized into a Film-Tech group. It's easy enough to just sort the news feed view based on that group. That would be somewhat similar to a dedicated FT page on Facebook -just without any dedicated photo albums and what not.

I don't have Facebook organized into any groups. I just read everyone's posts. If someone posts too much boring shit then I ignore them so their stuff doesn't show up. I also block all apps. Was considering ignoring Bobby due to all of that Pepsi spam, but it stopped and you lucked out!
