Author Topic: Way to NOT mark forums read on visit? David E. Nedrow Master Film Handler Posts: 368 From: Columbus, OH, USA Registered: Oct 2008 posted 01-29-2011 08:50 PM                        Hi, all, Aside from the obvious, "don't close any windows," is there a way to prevent marking forums as "read" even when just visiting the list of forums? It would would be "sweet heaven" if marking a forum "read" was an affirmative action I had to take, rather than happening automatically/passively by just browsing any part of the forum tree. And then you're back to a sticky note with the last date you hit F-T. I think this is the only forum software I've ever run across that marks everything read by just visiting the top of the forum tree. There is only one that I know of which actively allows you to reset the date/time of your last visit. There is one other site I'm a moderator at which has that. It produces one list covering all the forums of all the topics with new posts since my last visit. It eliminates the need to visit all the forums to see what's new every time. Here, we do have the "today's active topics" feature which is good if you're here every day, but if you don't log in for a couple of days it doesn't show what you missed. Just a small nitpick when considering the big picture.  |  IP: Logged
