Hi all

I have a question about identifying a film from my youth. When I say from my youth I mean I remember seeing bits of it when I was only say 5 or 6 so we are talking about a film made pre 1970.

I remember very little about it other than it had a very 50s or 60s look to it, was set back in Egypt or thereabouts when the Romans were about and involved some aspect of magic about it i.e. a curse or magical aspect much like you saw in Raiders of the Lost Ark. For some reason the film made an impact on me. Stylistically the film was similar to the Time Machine and probably about the same vintage.

Beyond that I really can't remember much

I know its not a lot to go on. Any suggestions?

This is a longshot, but Atlantis, The Lost Continent (1961) came to mind when I read your post. No Romans per se, but people who look a lot like they could be Romans, and they have giant death rays! Plus, their whole civilization is about to be wiped out, which is a dandy curse. Also you mentioned The Time Machine being stylistically similar, and both the films were George Pal productions. See if the trailer sparks a memory.

Thanks Mark

I don;t think that's the film but you are close. The film I remember had a female in some kind of danger in some kind of greco/roman temple.

Mind you the film you mentioned looks quite interesting anyway.Any film with Edward Platt in it must be good!

cheers Peter
