Studio Ghibli fan that I am, I couldn't resist sharing this. If I wasn't up to my neck in Marcus digital conversions during that time, I'd head up to Toronto to see this. From the Ghibli Blog:

Poppy Hill to Premier at Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced that Studio Ghibli's latest film, From Up On Poppy Hill (コクリコ坂から Kokurikozaka kara), will make its debut on the international stage. This is a surprising coup, as Ghibli's international premiers have occured at the Venice Film Festival. Excellent news for Toronto!

The 38th Annual Toronto International Film Festival runs September 8-18. Passes are currently available, and individual tickets will be available on September 3.

Landmark is playing Poppy Hill in Japanese with English subtitles starting next week (second week of local run) in San Francisco and Berkeley, but only once a day and only the last show of the night. Going to need to make some major schedule adjustments to make one of those Berkeley shows.

I'm sure when it comes here on the 26th it will be the English-dub version. When I get back to work I'll proly buy both the Japanese and US BDs. But from what I've heard of the dub (courtesy of the GKIDS trailer), the dub sounds pretty good. Hoping to have enough $$ to see it at the Regal Village Square when it gets here.
