Just looking at Michael Coate's latest series of threads regarding memorable films, I got to thinking: how about a new forum called "Today's memorable films?" There could be one thread for each day. It could be a good resource. It could be like the Industry News forums where the members could comment, but only Coate (or whoever) could put up new categories.

Just a random idea...which is a rarity for me before noon. [Big Grin]

I guess I didn't think it was a teaser but I can see your point. I'll make it a little more specific.

I dig it. It's been fun hearing people discuss the releases of the past.

Why not just have one thread and thats it. Judging by the lack of responses in the threads, it doesn't look like anyone really cares.

I would just have one thread.

Tom, isn't that what's being proposed?

No. Mike is proposing another subforum to go with the Film-Yak, Film Handler's Forum, Famous Projectionist Toilets etc forums.

Tom - the lack of responses isn't important, it's the archiving of informtaion. If there was just one thread, you'd have no way to sort the dates. If it was a forum with one thread PER DATE, then the movies for that date could be discussed.

I know this kind of info is easily available elsewhere but not with film-people's comments attached.

I do think Joe's Famous Projectionist Toilets idea is good too...I think I have a photo around here somewhere... [Big Grin]

I see what you are saying, but new-comers to the forum will likely find it lame and boring to find 365 different threads about moving openings.

And the lack of responses is concerning.

Just my opinion, one thread makes it work as each response that is posted is dated.

It will also being more interesting to scroll thru just like the 70mm ad thread.

Obviously, you just don't get the concept. I don't know why I keep wasting my time trying to explain it to you. I'll try once more.

The idea is to have a thread for each date SO A PERSON CAN FIND THE DATE THEY WANT without having to do a lot of searching. If it was all in one thread, with comments, it would just be a jumbled mess of postings in no particular order and much harder to find information.

The idea is also not for this group of people right here today, but for other readers years from now who might find it interesting or relevant.

Get it now? No? Well go watch some more Laserdiscs, maybe it will dawn on you.

We will see how long Michael Coate can keep it going. (Most probably...for a year.) Will take it under advisement. Perhaps we could call it Michael Coate's Memorial Memorable Films.

I got it from the very start, agree with Mike, and I watch LaserDiscs. [Razz]

If it got itself going well, it goes to further the idea that this is less of a forum sometimes, and more of an archive, which I think is fantastic. Perhaps you could even incorporate somehow what was being discussed on the forum that day when the film was released. I blame that idea on Facebook's new "On this day in year x" thing that keeps showing up on the side of my screen from time to time.
