For some reason we never played this one and I've never even seen it. As I remember, it was highly acclaimed but not that big a hit. Or maybe it didn't do well in the "hinterlands?"

Anyway, it's one of those movies I'd like to see but it's really not my favorite kind of movie so I'll probably never get around to it.

Maybe we should do a special showing and promote "First time on the Roxy screen." We could probably get some publicity out of why it never played before. Hmmmm.

Perhaps this was interpreted as another "boxing flick" in the mode of the "Rocky" films.

It was a platform release when it opened on Nov. 14th. 1980 in four theatres. In Westwood (UCLA)area of Los Angeles it played very well in that location. I saw it at the Regent Theatre afew days after it opened, in Hollywood it played the Hollywood Pacific Theatre.
