Burger King Japan Lauches (9-inch) Pizza-sized Burger

November 4, 2011 at 9:04AM by Kiri Tannenbaum

Clearly obesity isn't top-of-mind at fast-food joints in Japan. Earlier this year, Burger King launched the Meat Monster, which topped a regular Whopper with an additional beef patty, a chicken breast, three slices of bacon, and two slices of cheese. That was followed by McDonald's Japan's KBQ Burger — a standard McD's burger topped with a dose of Korean barbecued beef. Next month, BK Japan will introduce the colossal Pizza-Sized Burger.

As reported by Eater, the Godzilla-sized patty will measure 22 cm (that's roughly the size of a 9-inch pan pizza). You can order it with either "fresh avocado" or "cheese nacho." The specialty hamburger will also sell as a "party set" — which comes with fries, onion rings, and four sodas — for approximately $34. It's cut into 4 wedges, so you can grab just a slice, and it's being marketed as the kind of centerpiece that's perfect for your holiday meal (hence the photographs with Christmas flourishes of mistletoe).

I'm calling fake on that. You know, like when you go into a restaurant and they have all of that plastic food there.

At least that's what the picture looks like...plastic food.

Better yet, Ask what the hell they put on pizzas in Japan. First one I got there had a raw egg in the middle of it. Luckily I found found a place a few blocks away that was on the waterfront, played beachboys, and had SPAM sandwiches. I lived on SPAM and Kirin beer for a week [beer]

It's getting to where you can't just get a "hamburger" anymore. They pile so much extra shit on it, or make it so huge, that they ruin it or turn it into something other than a hamburger.

It's all done in the name of higher prices. A restaurant COULD sell a hamburger for about $4, but instead they make it a 'half pound' of beef (too much) and pile on all kinds of crap that you don't need, and then they use a kaiser bun (wrong kind, but looks "fancy") and charge $10 or more for it.

On top of that, some places don't even have a "hamburger" on the menu anymore; they call it a "cheeseburger" and if you want to get a regular hamburger, you have to order a "cheeseburger without cheese." But you're still paying extra for the cheese, of course.

The worst thing is, they use frozen patties that are machine made, therefore they're compressed so tight that there's no room in there for moisture. Hence, dried-out, tough patties.

We have a restaurant here in town called the Speedway. They used to sell the perfect hamburger for about $3.50. I used to go there all the time for these great burgers. A few years ago they "upgraded" it and raised the price to $6.95. In doing so, they ruined it.

You're right. A burger's not a real burger without beetroot. [Wink]

Most people do. They just make sure they're pickled first.
