Anyone see this sneak screening? I believe it was on 70mm-5 perf. Can anyone confirm that 70mm DTS prints have been made?

http://screenrant.com/the-master-movie-reviews-previews/

Paul Thomas Anderson’s followup to There Will Be Blood, The Master, was recently bumped up to a September start date for its awards-contending theatrical run. However, Santa Monica residents who attended last Friday’s screening of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining were treated to an even earlier look at Anderson’s latest (which was the surprise second half of a double-feature).

The Master takes inspiration from the life of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, but appears to use those biographical elements as a stepping stone for a powerful tale that’s rich in symbolism and looks/sounds like a companion piece to There Will Be Blood. Trailers for The Master tease arresting performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman (also Amy Adams, to a lesser degree) – but do early reactions and reviews back that assessment?

what an odd subject matter/plot to film in 70mm - anyhoo...from what I've heard P.T Anderson is pushing the Weinstein Co. to print up a few 70mm prints for theatrical distribution.

PTA's official info site http://cigsandredvines.blogspot.com/ pretty much confirms there is at least ONE 70mm print that will be making the festival rounds.

The site has a whole section on the 70mm aspect of this release pleading with people to submit names of cinemas that still are known to be able to show 5/70mm: http://cigsandredvines.blogspot.com/2012/08/help-pta-show-master-in-70mm-in-your.html

I can confirm that at least one 70mm print with a Datasat Digital Sound track has been made (that's what screened at the Aero the other night). It's a gorgeous print, too.

I wish! But no, it's a standard 5.1 mix.

Is it known whether the print has been struck from a photochemical master (ie OCN>IP>print or something like that), or from a DI film-out?

"The Master" was recently shown at BAFTA, London, in 70mm (1.85:1) and DTS sound.

It's a photochemical print, although to be honest I'm not sure if there's an IN/IP in between the camera neg and release print, or if they did an answer print straight off the cut negative. Definitely not from a DI for the 70mm print. Not sure about the 35mm.

The DCPs will be 4k.

The Master will be playing in 70mm at the Toronto International Film Festival, at the Light Box Theatre this September.

I read that not all 100% of the movie was shot 5/65mm so there would have had to be a blowup IN for the 35mm stuff.

The AFI Silver in Silver Spring, MD will have it in 70mm on evenings and weekends. Weekday matinees will be 35mm.

Why in the world would their weekday matinees be 35mm??? Are the professional 70mm operators not available during weekday matinees and they are doing the RIGHT thing by NOT letting the 35mm people handle the 70mm print?
