A FILM PRAYER...

I AM FILM, not steel.

Oh projectionist, have mercy on me.

I face mortal danger when I travel through the gate I must pass.

If your careless hand misthreads me, I’m torn to bit.

If dirt is in the aperture, my film of beauty is bewhiskered.

I become streaked and I will disappoint and bore you,

Treat me gently and I will bring delight and joy to you.

Handle me as if I were your only child, and I will make you proud to have shown me.
