Lauren Bacall Dies at 89

Link To Complete Story

Hollywood is remembering legendary actress Lauren Bacall, who died Tuesday of a stroke at age 89.

Humphrey Bogart's estate confirmed the news via Twitter on Tuesday. "With deep sorrow, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall," the estate said. Bacall and Bogart starred in numerous films together and were married for 11 years.

Bacall was known for roles in such classic films as To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep and Key Largo. She earned an Academy Award nomination for 1996's The Mirror Has Two Faces, in which she starred opposite Barbra Streisand. Bacall received an honorary Oscar in 2010.

Two big movie icons gone in two days. Lauren Bacall was a classic Hollywood movie star.

It's pretty morbid, but it has me thinking about other Hollywood icons still living, but getting up there in the years. I hope Clint Eastwood is doing well. His co-star in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly died just a few weeks ago.

So Manacham Golan doesn't count;> Also, when do you start and stop counting?

Loved Lauren Bacall's voice. To Have and Have Not and The Big Sleep have got to be two of the sexiest performances ever.
Go to show a movie to her once at the AFI.

She was like 25 years younger than BOGART but probably one of the Best Compatible Marriages in Hollywood until Boggy's Death.
She always had that Sexy Sultry Look much like Veronica Lake had...

Menachem Golan and Yoram Globus both were well known around Hollywood, but they weren't household names even though it's common for movie producers to act like it.

I'm not sure when anyone is supposed to start/stop counting on the celebrity tragedies come in threes thing. How about a week? That seems to be a sensible time window for the threes thing to happen.

I'd add Dark Passage to that list, too - one of the most underrated of the late Warners noirs and Bogie/Bacall double acts.
