Get An Original 35mm Film Frame From Thor Along With Your Movie Ticket

How much would you pay for an original 35mm frame from the movie Thor? I’m guessing most of you probably wouldn’t bother paying for the shipping costs, but what if the frame also came with a special, collectible movie ticket to see the film? I will now present you with an offer which, depending on where you live, may seem very reasonable somewhat reasonable or a bit of a ripoff. The website Senitype is offering the packages for fifteen dollars a piece. Each offering is individually numbered, contains a unique still and allows you into Thor for free. Is this genius or a hokey gimmick that’ll never catch on?

I suspect more than a few fan boys will jump at the change to grab a piece of Thor, but it’s unclear whether average moviegoers will see this as creative alternative to Fandango or a wasteful add on which jacks up ticket prices slightly. At the theater I go to in Indiana, you can still see movies during the week for five dollars; so, ten dollars for a movie still seems wasteful. But when I go visit my parents in downtown Chicago and have to shell out thirteen bucks, an extra two seems like a worthwhile investment.

The website has indications they’re preparing the same marketing scheme for Captain America. For the time being, we’ll probably only see like-minded promotions for superhero flicks, comic book adaptations and random movies geared towards teenagers, but if those go over well enough, Sentitype may have stumbled upon an entirely new way fans will purchase movie tickets. I’m not sold yet, but stranger things have happened.

Uh, what's with the weird/uneven frame lines/perfs and is that just a single-line mono optical sound track there?

Thor's a homo, anyways. [Razz]

I bought one of those Titanic 70mm film frame thingies. Best Buy was selling them. I doubt it was trimmed from an actual 70mm DTS print. The stuff on the left edge that looks like time code still looks different from DTS 70 time code. It looks a little more like bar code; the thick and thin stripes are green in color and put against a black background. The areas where mag striping would be are black.

I guess I could try to scan it or take a photo of it sometime.

Its going to be IMAX Digital only. It comes out a week after Fast Five. Fast Five is getting the print release and Thor is getting the Digital release.

So these 'real film frames' have -:

thick frame lines equalling one weird aspect ratio, a silver non dye mono soundtrack without DTS timecode Dolby digital or SDDS sound records?

This = Bullshit.

Which distributor would allow a 'real film frame' to be hacked out like that anyway?

Still, I'd like to see them try this with a digital cinema print [Big Grin]

"Get a collectible genuine D-Cinema hard disk fragment containing one frame of this Summer's blockbuster!"

...then you get it and it's a tiny little piece of the casing from an old 3.5" floppy...

If fake frames will keep the choppers away, more power to them.

If you REALLY want to get technical...shouldn't the film frame be squished as the movie is scope? Also the prints probably haven't been made yet so this picture is just a suggestion and perhaps upon the film's release the film frames may be authentic.

Pretty stupid idea in this day and age anyway. Who wants film frames as a collectible item?

That film frame pictured above only has three sprocket holes.

Aside from that, if this is a real product, the seller only has to get hold of one print at 100 minutes to get 144,000 frames of film. Take out the ones that are credits, "black" scenes and other junk, you would probably still have 100,000 good frames. Even if (as in the photo) there's actually three frames on a card, you'd still have 33,000 or more available from a single 35mm print.
