George Cole passed away yesterday the british actor who was best remembered as Flash Harry in the St Trinians films

Yes the original St Trinians with Alastair Sim not the dreadful remakes

In the UK he was best known for Minder.

I'd be very surprised if Minder was exported outside the UK on any significant scale - the humor is just too local. As a teenager in 1980s south London I loved it: the brilliance of Cole's character was that everyone knew someone they described as "an Arthur Daley type", including people too young to have seen the show on its original run.

I'm sure there'll be re-runs aplenty, though, in the UK at least. There seems to be a lot of 1980s nostalgia around at the moment. There's even a 1980s channel here, which shows endless repeats of Knight Rider, Baywatch, The A Team, Matt Houston, etc. etc.
