I have been talking with Brad and he suggested I post this for all to comment on. A few months ago there was a thread discussing the virtues of an 8 perf tape splice. Well, here is a splicer that will punch all 16 holes in one operation. It came with a roll of two frame wide CIRO tape. Any idea who made this, and is the tape still available? Someone had butchered the label. There is no listing in Westbury, NY that I can find (I live about 50 miles from there.) Brad says he will put up a couple of pictures.

Thanks,
Pete

I have a catalog and price list for this splicer. The G Splicer Corporation's address WAS 22 Cain Drive, Plainview, NY 11803. Phone 516-454-0400. The 8-perf model used 1.5 inch wide tape, so the tape edges were on the frameline, to minimize visibility of the splice. The model numbers were GN-3 or GN-4, and there was also the "Editor IV". A useful feature was that several different rolls of tape (clear, "Zebra", opaque) could be kept on the spindle at the same time.

Lenny Dickstein was president of the company --- he now owns Len-D Enterprises, 6080 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, Florida, 33417, telephone 561-682-3500, and still sells splicers and tape. He is still active, and has exhibited at ShowEast and ShoWest. So you might contact him to see if parts are still available. I think several manufacturers made the 1.5-inch splicing tape, so theatre dealers should be able to get some.

Thanks John. I would say your catalog is a little old, though. The 516 phone number is now a doctors office. They say they have had that number for about 18 years. Plainview and Westbury are right next to each other here on Long Island. I haven't tried the other location, but thanks for the info.
