Not trying to speak for Sam, but I don't know about a reliable way to test it. I guess the unit does a limited self-test on power-up, but some lingering flash issue won't necessarily turn up that way. It's available as Cat. # 797 and should be "reasonably priced" nowadays and I guess Sam has still a bunch of them in stock.
