Thank you!
Well i am happy to report that the grease has finally solved the problem for now, plus adjusting the friction on the feed reel as helped bring the rollers into action/life. I have also been checking and redoing some tape splices (why would you only tape one side of the film?) as we all know tape splices not like cement splices don't last for ever unfortunately.
So thanks to everyone for you valuable help in all this which i very much appreciate, sometimes even getting spare parts is not enough to solve a problem. In the meantime I will keep your recommendations on other makes of projectors to hand if I ever need another projector..
What kind of splice tape do you use? If you use good quality tape, you shouldn't have to redo splices very often, at all.
Of course, it's wise to check and fix any splices you find in a reel of film but, properly done and with good quality materials, repair/replacement should take place over a span of years.
If you ran an archive, things would be different but, for your purposes, a well done tape splice, checked occasionally, should be all you need.
I use Jack Roe splicing tape but currently i use CIR tape splicer but any recommendations on either a better splicing tape or splicer will obviously help. Whilst i like CIR tape splicers i believe Neumade splicers are the best.
