I'm wondering if anyone has used a Brenkert Enarc lamp with a DP70 projector? If so,was anything needed to adapt it to the projector & any adjustments, etc. made if using it with 35 or 70mm formats whether unconverted or converted to xenon? (I do know DP70's were mostly used with Peerless or Ashcraft lamps)

Using Brenkert Enarc with DP70?

I ran a pair for about a year in a theater in Chicago. They never gave any problem. Originally, they were made to use with the Motiograph Model K, because the snood was very adaptable to the model K's swing back to open film trap. They are light equivelent to a Magnarc, would ok on a DP-70 for 35mm only. The reflector is not designed to cover a 70mm aperature. Also keep in mind that film prints are not color balanced for carbon arc. Also, prints made since at least the 80's, possibly earlier are color balanced for Xenon. There is not a huge looking difference projected one way or the other... But thats a good projector, so why not do it the right way. Also, it's tough to get decent carbons these days.

Yeah i'm curious too about the desire to run carbon-arc in 2024. They are cool no doubt, in a museum or historical teaching setting. We have that brenkert enarc waiting to be displayed with it's Supreme in a lobby after a remodel. We of course want to make it work, but only for occasional demos, and probably a pipe dream considering location and exhaust/power requirements.

Even the Japanese and the Chinese have moved on from Carbon Arc stuff. Today, the Chinese are the largest producers of Laser retrofits for older digital projectors. However, you might try Jack Roe, who is here in Nashville, or Magnatec in Miami. The latter has just about everything film related ever made.
