  • Eiki NT2 sound issue

    Hi
I’ve just got hold of an Eiki nt2 which is in great condition except for a strange issue with the sound . There’s no sign of life from the amp at all , no hum , no exciter , the fuses are both good , the exciter is good and then after about 30 minutes the amp suddenly comes to life , The connectors all seem fine , there’s nothing obvious . There’s a large cap on the side of the amp module , does anyone think this could be the problem? It seems likely the problem lies in the power supply but any advice will be great fully received. Best wishes , Jon

Well, does the exciter lamp light up right away when you go to RUN? As old as it is... I'd recap the amp, just so you don't have issues. But also verify that there IS AC to the amp power transformer when it's switched on. Am pretty sure it's the big transformer when you open the back cover. There is also a motor capacitor in there, so don't get that confused with the audio section. I have seen gummy power switches with a delay. But 30 minutes is a long delay. Some standard checks with a simple DMM should show where the issue is at.

I could only find a complete NT2 Service Manual, There is an NT manual at this site, but minus the electrical stuff.

It is called the EIKI "N" service manual. Available here on the site and elsewhere...
