  • Attaching Cinemascope adapter

I am trying to figure out how to connect an ISCO cinemascope adapter to an ISCO lens. I thought that by removing the front ring, it might expose male threads, but it doesn't. Do I need a particular coupling ring to attach them together? Thanks!

ISCO never designed their integrated anamorphics to be field assembled. They were always factory assembled. Schneider, on the other hand, did design their small anamorphics to be field assembled. So, unfortunately, there is no concrete answer unless you know how the particular focal lengths were assembled what is missing. Odds are, there is a intermediate ring that is attached by a cone-point set screw to the anamorphic side that would also attach to the prime side. Getting your hands on a non-disassembled one would be a good move to see how it was put together (and it may not apply across the focal range).

I don't think those two pieces would screw together even if they had matching threads. The tail end of the anamporphic lens sticks out too far. If you tried to screw them together as-is, the tail of the anamorphic would hit the front element of the prime lens.

There must be an adapter ring, of some sort, that holds them together... If those two lenses are even intended to be put together, at all.

There is a store called "Shit You Don't Need" Yes, that's a real place! I think it's some where near San Fransisco... But around here it's really called Ebay. There are countless ISCO adapters on there, some specifically for your Red Star Plus lenses. You may find the right adapter, or you may not. But there are a heck of a lot of them. Here are a few pictures...

Thanks for the responses! I will check out the adapters on eBay / web. It looks like optically the spacing isn't super critical, but you want them as close as possible to avoid vignetting.
