The movie that saved movie theatres this summer 2023 'Barbie' was a fun trip to watch. We enjoyed seeing It on the large wide semi curved screen at the Cinelux 41st Ave Theatre Capitola CA in the largest screen in the Santa Cruz area theatre #1.. The image was bright and very colorful with a nice stereo surround mix. Margot Robbie played the doll just perfect and we liked Ryan Gosling as Ken.
So nice to see this cinema full with the lobby all decked out with pink streamers.. Just like the old days with eager popcorn & drink moviegoers lined up at the candy/food counter.
The director Greta Gerwig did a fine job and will be up for awards along with the cast members. Warner Bros needs to think about a sequel $ for next year.
Here are my thoughts for Barbie Film-Tech Cinema Systems
Barbie has to go back to Barbieland for a Ken problem. Then she gets sent back to the real world again ends up walking on Hollywood Blvd and meets Angelyne with her pink corvette parked in front of the Pacific Warner Cinerama then gets a job selling Barbie dolls at the Hollywood Toy Store with Pee Wee Herman as manager (bring Pee Wee out of retirement) Another idea with Margot Robbie as Barbie again bring her to the Chinese Theatre Hollywood to look for her special footprints. Put her on a LA bus shopping in Beverly Hills.
Too bad in the current 'Barbie' blockbuster the day Warner Bros shot live in Venice Beach It was a foggy day so no nice blue sky. You would think in this day of all the special effects rather then bring all the crew and extras back on a sunny beach day they had a way to add blue to the sky on the final print.
So stock your refreshment counters so you don't run out of things and add some shows for Barbie the next few weeks.. I wrote Greta and Warner Bros about some of my other ideas for a future Barbie movie. Hope they film the second movie if they do a sequel in scope not 1.85 flat. The Cinelux 41st Cinema in Capitola near Santa Cruz has no moving masking but It has a huge wide screen in Theatre Film-Tech Forums & Film-Tech Cinema Systems when they do show a scope movie..
Thanks to Paul the owner for getting pink out in the lobby of all his Cinelux Theatres in the SF Bay Area.
