In a way, yes. I'd describe it as taking in the spectacle.

Oppenheimer was a great movie, but so much was left out of what actually happened during those days, both before and after Los Almos. Even after watching this movie, people still have no clue what all actually took place, or when work on it was actually begun. But of course, if they added in another 15 minutes of stuff, it would not fit on the Imax platter, so it ended up being what it is. If anyone is actually interested in all the details that make up the entire story, then read the Pulitzer winning book called "The Making Of The Atomic Bomb" by Richard Rhodes.

Then, a little over ten years later, this story at the link below happened in southern Utah due to atomic testing in Nevada. This story is fully covered in a book by John G. Fuller called "The Day We Bombed Utah". Residents of St George, Utah still have very high rates of cancer today.

"A John Wayne flop has been linked to high cancer rates. A new documentary aims to tell the community’s story."
