I liked the movie very much. Watched on the large CinemaScope screen ith masking that opened on the sides at the art deco classic Orinda Theatre in Orinda CA on the Bart train line from SFO.
Nice to see a new film without all the bad potty words, guns ,sex sleaze and killing violence
Scarlett Johansson along with Channing Tatuum were great as a team working for Nasa for the Apollo project. Watch for the black cat in the movie. Woody Harrelson also had a great part in the movie. I enjoyed all the small screen 1.33 old original film news footage of the TV live broadcasts from that time they mixed in the production.
The sound at the Orinda Theatre is so much better now that they have installed a brand new Meyers stereo surround Dolby Digital unit in he large main art deco Theatre Film-Tech Forums cinema space. with neon lights and black light art on the walls. They keep some of the glow lights and neon on low during the movie. The curtains still work but the timing cues were a little off.
The Orinda outside neon marquee that has the title up 'Fly Me To The Moon' in Red plastic letters is starting to have tree problems . Three trees need to be taken out or trimmed down so you can see this classic theatre neon marquee from the street. 40% of the lighted panels are being blocked by the trees.. The manager has tried to get the trim work done but the owners of the property, as they don't seem to want to show off their deco theatre building and fix the tree problem It gets worse every month and a fire hazard. The city needs to get involved.
I think this 'Fly Me To The Moon' movie will be a word of mouth film to see like the new movie 'Thelma ' has been the last two weeks.
Great stereo music sound track from that time in the 1960's but what happened to the Frank Sinatra's 'Fly Me To The Moon' song, seems they missed It.in the movie cut. Was It a license problem or did the Sinatra family not want It used or a $$$$ issue ?
Check out the 'Moon' movie had nice color and sound . Channing had some sort of strange dark black hair color weave on his head. Looked weird plus he never took off his shirt I guess as there were no sex scenes in the movie just a few small kiss parts.
The Orinda Theatre has a new Tiki bar now off the lobby, enter next door under the neon marquee left. What a great place this is with fun tiki color light decor. Will go and have a tiki tropical drink when the new Disney 'Pirate' movie opens at the Orinda Theatre.
