We saw this new movie at the Scotts Valley CA Cinelux 10 last week. As most times after I got my popcorn and headed into Theatre Digital Cinema Forum the heat was on inside this auditorium and It was 80 outside. Had to go back to the lobby to tell them to please turn off the heater please.
This Rumours film looked like It was shot in a smaller size screen format. I did not like the movie at all. It was too surreal for me. Cate Blanchet did a ok job the first part with her Germain accent but near the middle when things got out of control at the G7 summit she fell apart. She is probably sorry she even made this film.
I know the movie had a hidden message but It was very strange to watch It. May have gone over my head.
Out of 5 people for a 11 15 AM matinee 3 people walked out 3/4 into Rumours. I think I would have also left as the end 15 minutes got even worse to watch but I did like some of the stereo surround sound at times and I was comfortable in my recliner seat now that the heater was turned off.
The movie for the most part was filmed in a murky swamp type forest . They advertise It as a black comedy but we did not see much laughter in Rumours. Another movie that they spent all this money on and It will bomb at the boxoffice. The old people will not understand the plot and the young movie crowd will think the horror parts too tame.
