Along with the news of the end of its Chapter 11 process, the company announced plans to open five new theaters — with locations in Manhattan, Staten Island, St. Louis and two in Washington D.C. — in 2021 and 2022. Alamo Drafthouse had to close down a few underperforming venues as part of its bankruptcy filing and currently has nearly 40 locations in total."
Before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic hit Alamo Drafthouse was considering opening a location in Oklahoma City. The new Chisholm Creek development in the northern suburb of Edmond was a the likely site. That deal is obviously is postponed or eliminated entirely. There's no telling how long various parcels of land able to hold a large theater will be available.
Thanks Mark for the Alamo re opening info. In San Francisco we have the Alamo New Mission Theatre complex. Has a nice original large downstairs cinema with 70mm and curtains. The upstairs old loge area spots are very small. Can't wait to see the projectors turned on again in SF and the food to eat.
So fun at Alamo are the pre show trailers and shorts shown. Now If they would only add some color lights in the downstairs part.
