February 20, 1948 - December 14, 2023
Bobby Pinkston of Colorado Springs, CO passed away December 14, 2023, in Colorado Springs CO.
Bobby was born on February 20, 1948, to Rupert “Pinky” Pinkston and Betty Juanita (Holt) Rector in Dallas TX. He attended Mesquite High School in Mesquite TX and graduated from University of Texas in Arlington with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Bobby worked in the movie theater industry by starting out in the concession stands at a drive-in theater in Dallas. His love for this industry led him to live in Denver CO to work with United Artist Theaters before moving to San Francisco CA to work with Dolby Laboratories. He was a board member of the Academy of Motion Picture Art and Sciences for the Scientific and Technical Awards and was also a senior tech staff member for the Telluride Film Festival for over twenty years. He has won many awards for his contributions for the movie theater industry and was able to travel all over the world for his job. After retiring, he moved back to Colorado with his wife, Nancy of 47 years. In his retirement he enjoyed working at Lowes in both Colorado Springs CO and Sherman TX.
Bobby also loved working on cars, especially Corvettes. A hobby that started as a kid. He was an avid member of the Corvette Club of Texas, Tejas Vettes as well as Colorado Springs Corvette Club. He was also an amateur radio operator with the call sign N5XPI.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Pinkston and grandson, Adam Dilmore of Colorado Springs CO, brother Jimmy Pinkston of Dallas, TX and brother Joe Rector and wife Leah of Falls City NB.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Pinkston; father, Rupert “Pinky” Pinkston and wife Charlene and Mother, Betty Juanita (Holt) Rector.
Funeral Services honoring Bobby will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2024, at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro beginning at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Gordonville Cemetery in Gordonville.
