  • Can CP850/950 work with other server except digital cinem server to make ATMOS audio?

    Hi,
My client want to build a cinema with 180 degree surround screen through 3 barco projectors edge-blending .But the owner wants Atmos audio with CP850/950.
I only know CP850/950 can work with digital cinema servers to make ATMOS,link GDC/DOLBY.....But now they are all IMB,can not make any edge-blending setting to video signal.
Is their any player can do both edge-blengding and ATMOS with CP850/950?
The cinema is like the picture show.

    Regards,
    Michael

A CP850/CP950A...heck even an IMS3000 can indeed provide CONSUMER Atmos via their HDMI ports. The Barco ICMP-X can work with the CP850/CP950A for DCP based professional ATMOS.

Like Steve indicated, practically any modern DCI server will be able to work with a CP850 or CP950 to render proper "DCI Atmos".

There are plenty of edge-blending solutions out there, but what content do you want to screen? If your answer is: encrypted (Hollywood) content, then the answer is... things are going to get difficult.

Neither NEC nor BARCO are going to support what you're trying to do. So, what's left is Christie, which is the only company which currently offers "pixel warping" on DCI projectors.

Also keep in mind that the amount of Hollywood content that really works with such screen layouts is somewhat minimal. Most content currently is in scope and while scope still looks great on a curved screen, some scenes will look odd on a deeply curved screen, even if you warp the image to adjust for geometric deformations.

Well, with DCI content, Barco did it with Escape, however, it is a thing of the past. ScreenX is another company promoting it. However, they are all struggling getting content for these systems. They usually have to produce extra content for the side panels.
Want ATMOS on top of that, it will get extremely difficult.

BARCO Escape never did any active edge blending, those two extra panels simply were two extra screens and ScreenX uses non-DCI short-throw projectors to project stuff on the wall. While those images are edge-blended and digitally masked to follow the edges of the room, they do not blend with the DCI-protected main-content, there is a hard edge between them.

BARCO Escape is officially dead and ScreenX is also a propriety format. Your best bet is to use existing content and work from there.
