  • Barco 15c... Tamper error 10945

    HELP

AFTER CLEANING THE GOLD CONTACTS ON AN ICMP (known issue) AND RE INSTALLING SAME.... I'M GETTING "CODE 10945 ... BOARD INSERTION TAMPER"

BOTH MY DALLAS KEYS HAVE NO EFFECT TO CLEAR THE ERROR AND USE THE PROJECTOR. THE KEYS ARE "IN" THE PROJECTION AND THE PASSWORD is 12345612 is CORRECT.

I HAVE RE-BOOTED THE ICMP and DONE A HARD START on the PROJECTOR. NO EFFECT to CLEAR THE ERROR.

AND YES, I REMOVED THE ICMP AND RE-SEATED IT.

DOES ANYONE HAVE A BETTER FIX???

Are you sure that the Dallas key you're trying is correctly registered to the projector? If the sequence is working correctly, it should be:
    1. Apply key to reader
    2. Buttons turn yellow
    3. Each numeral button flashes purple momentarily when you push it
    4. At the end of the sequence, all six numerals should briefly flash green, indicated that the code has been accepted successfully
    5. About 30-60 seconds later, the tail light changes from red to green (if no planned maintenance is due) or blue (if it is)
I've found that two issues can derail the tamper clear process: either the Dallas key is not registered to the projector, in which case the numeral buttons will flash red rather than yellow when the Dallas key is applied to the reader; or one or more of the numeral buttons is bad, in which case it won't change color momentarily in response to being pushed, resulting in a red flash from all six at the end. The old nipple-style buttons are susceptible to this failure mode: new new gel style buttons are much more reliable. You can work around this in one of two ways: (1) by setting a code in Communicator that only requires the working buttons, e.g. 60421562 if the 3 is buggered, and (2) if the projector is on version 2.8.86 or later, using the "onsite marriage" feature in Communicator to enter the code into a PC, meaning that all you need to do at the projector is to apply the Dallas key to the reader.

If it's not any of that, then I fear you need a new motherboard. The tamper switch involved is not mechanical: it is an optical sensor on the side of one of the PCI receptacles that determines if a board is present in the slot, of if not, if a cover plate is present. These do occasionally fail - not very often, but they do. Over the last few years, I've replaced two or three motherboards that have failed in this way (card cage changes are made, and the tamper won't clear afterwards). Assuming you haven't checked this out, though, the fault is far more likely to be a bad numeral button.

BTW, and without wanting to come across as a finger wagger, you might want to delete the credential quoted in your post: it's against forum rules to post login credentials, including factory default ones.

Leo, Thank you. I will change my DALLAS KEY PASSWORD to something simple. 121212 or 010101, I assume by DEAD KEY you mean a key "not rear lite" or is "soft."

OMG... please NOT the motherboard... the back order is months and the COST!!!!!

QUESTION... BY "credential quoted against forum rules to post login credentials, including factory default ones," I didn't think that was a FACTORY PASSWORD.

Yes that is the original passcode for new ones.
If the key is definitely recognized and passcode is correct as shown in "manage security keys" (or whatever that is) and buttons turn amber - but you get a red flash after the passcode... possible backplane failure, true.
If the panel buttons are bad (very common) you won't see them flash purple when pressed. New style keypad is not super expensive and a quick job to swap in.
The Communicator (touchpanel or PC) marriage is similar. When you enter the code and press marriage the panel buttons should go amber and you have about 30 seconds to touch the key to the socket.socke - if they don't go amber the projector software may be old and without that ability but I think you said they do.
A diags package may tell what sensor is bad but Barco support will need to check it. Unless someone here knows where to look for that, I don't.

The keys "flash purple when pressed"

I don't recall the keys flashing AT ALL when entering PASSWORD on Barco. I will check in 2 hours.

          enjoy "Winter-Peg"

That likely means they are dead. Not used much if you have a touchscreen or use automation from the server. Common issue.
I've replaced quite a few. The new versions with protruding buttons haven't failed so far.

              LEO & DAVE WERE CORRECT.

The Barco KEYPAD on the projector had ONLY ONE NUMBER of SIX WORKING. That was the NUMBER "2." So I added a new password, 222222, waved the correct DALLAS KEY and like magic the Barco is showing BLACK ADAM again.

so a BIG FilmTech...... THANK YOU

and Dave you better order me a NEW SHINY WORKING KEYPAD WHEN YOU GET HOME. This is a NOT 911 order.

Hence, I have stopped even trying on Barco projectso with the early style blister buttons, and use the 'Onsite Marriage' functins in Communicator.

Lucky it isn't series 1 with no working buttons... Impossible to clear tampers. And parts are NLA.

Ended up being a keypad problem, only one number button still works. Setting it up with a compatible passcode did the trick. I don't know why Communicator marriage failed, I haven't found out the projector software version but it may be old enough that remote marriage is not in it.

In general, all Series 2 Barcos should be on 2.8.86 or later (2.10.117 is current). I forget if the remote marriage happened before 2.8.86 but that is a good version. Communicator has to be on 5.12 or later (5.16.1 is current).
