Is it just me, and the shallow pool of distributors I swim in, or are the key validity start times getting tighter?
I used to be able to test the feature a day or two before the opening, so if anything is really wrong we can get a replacement drive. Now it seems more keys do not become valid until the day of the show.
Yes, I can call and get a test key. And yes, I'm aware that multiplexes test their shows on the opening night audiences (because everything is perfect with digital).
What is also strange, many of these keys that are not valid until opening day stay valid for weeks after. So it is not as if they studios are worried about us running unauthorized shows.
