Excellent suggestions, Carsten. The Apocalypse Now DCP was created on 2021-11-02 using Cipher CplGen 1.8.16. Facility code indicates Deluxe Burbank. Full name:
So, unfortunately, this is indeed a repertoire DCP created in 2021 - when everybody considered a CAT862 safe for primetime. It IS a 4k encoding, as MI7.
Weird. Maybe some bug sneaked in with some of the recent DSS200/CAT862 software updates? But for sure there weren't many in the recent years. And not every update changed the CAT862 firmware. Has anyone heard from Dolby about this yet?
I went through our records to see when we previously experienced the color fringing issue with Easy Rider, and that was in August 2019. The issue was reported on the one screen we played it on that had a CAT 862. The other two screens we played it on had CAT 745s and they had no issues.
