  • Expired certificate: can still play out encrypted DCPs?

    Hi,

I was curious if this is something common in other parts of the world:
We were creating some KDMs for the DCP of feature film we mastered, delivered to over a dozen film festivals around the world.

WIth one of the small film festivals, we were provided with an expired certificate. That was a first time for us, unless since Ive been using DVS Clipster to package DCPs. Clipster would warn us the certificate is expired and then create a KDM with the expatiation time marching that certificate, there wasn't a workaround for this. However the Festival tech person told us many films were provided the same certificate and could do a KDM without issue...

I understand there might be some tools that would overlook the expiration date of the server that'd play that DCP, but those same tools often would create DCPs that wouldn't pass the qc approval of mayor film festivals.

    Anyone has seen this before?

    Cheers
Working...
