  • Will DCP-2000 including link decryptor from a Chrisitie go into NC900/1000/1200?

Hi all. I am not sure if this will work. Trying to put some life into some old kit.
Have a NC 900, 1000 and 1200 projectors. Link Decryptors all dead. (Turned off to long)

I can source some decomisioned DCP-2000 using a link Decryptors into a Christie projector. Can I move the Link Decryptor board from the Christie to the NEC without issue?
    Will it work?????

I have an old recollection, that it would not. Just wanted to make sure.

I cannot speak to the NC1000 but, for sure, the NC900 and NC1200 can take a legacy board with the link decryptor. I have used a DSS200 with an NC900. My suspicion is that the NC1000 likely would. I'm guessing that you are asking about the NC-1201L and NC-1202L? The NC-1200 was in the heyday of the SDI based serves and it would come with the link decryptor. The NC900 is really an NC900C-A and the NC1000 is an NC1000C-A...the A denotes no input provided (no legacy board with the DVI ports and Link Decryptor sockets).

    [EDIT]
Using the projector emulator. The NC900C-A has the option for the Legacy board...the NC1000C-A does NOT. So, yes on the NC900C-A and on the NC1200 (xenon projector) but no for NC1000C-A and newer. And, FYI, the NC1100L CAN be used with the legacy board and Enigma.

The link decryptor "Enigma" modules are brand specific and won't swap. You need a Barco one in a Barco, Christie in a Christie, NEC in a NEC. It's something to do with the login list - or whatever - but we can't edit the stuff that doesn't match without a higher login level than "service". And we won't be getting that.

Related to which, what is a real bugger is that it is possible to move an (old school TI) ICP that was in a Series 2 NEC or Christie to a Barco, by running the recovery script that Barco gives you. This "nukes" the ICP to fresh out of the factory, and then installs 4.5.454 followed by the Barco login list. But Christie and NEC don't offer such a utility, so you can't take an ICP that has been in a Barco and put it in an NEC, or from an NEC to a Christie, etc. etc.

Thanks guys. You confirm my impression it was not possible.
Disappointing. Going to be hard to find NEC decryptor boards... I have 3 projectors with lowish usage. I expect may be easier to find a IMS2000. They at least worked in all projectors.

I missed the part that you were looking to transfer the link decryptor too. As others have indicated, the ICP and Enigma are identical to all three OEMs...however the login lists are different so the respective manufacturers will fail when trying to establish their secure connection (internally). For instance, you can physically transfer the boards and use the TI ICP/Enigma program to talk to them, regardless of which projector they are installed but they will never clear their tamper errors without the right login list for the right projector brand. It sucks because some OEM companies charge a LOT more for the ICP than others.

With respect to NEC, you might be able to find someone that has the NEC Enigma that they are willing to part with since you can configure NEC projectors to not use the Enigma. Furthermore, so long as the Enigma is on the legacy board, they have to clear that security tamper as well as the IMBs.

The NEC1000C will only work with a IMB or a IMS as aside it will not work with the SX2000AR or older IMBs it will work with the showvault4 IMB
