  • 0515 Unexpected Light Off Critical

    Hi,

    Need some help here.

I have some Christie S2 projector CP2215, CP2210, that is at random trapping "0515 Unexpected Light Off Critical" after lamp off cue triggered from server.

from the logfile there's "Detected External Light On while in cooldown after 5 second cool down delay", but there were no manual operation to turn on the xenon right after it was cue to off.
there no issue with the server cue.

anyone face the same issue? able to give some idea why it was trapping the fault?

multiple xenon was used, but still random trapping the fault.

    thank you.

I'm no Christie expert, by my guess would be either a bad igniter or a bad lamp power supply. Do you see a brief flash from the lamphouse before that error appears? If so, that would suggest that the igniter is working, but that the lamp power supply is failing to supply the low voltage, high current power needed to keep the lamp alive after it's struck. If you don't see that flash, I would tend to suspect the igniter.

Just to make sure I understood the sequence...

The SPL or other automation is turning the lamp off as planned.
But then it's either attempting to ignite on it's own or throwing flags as if it had attempted to go into "light on" state via some command, despite you not manually sending one. But does so within the cooldown so throws errors?

Just checking, it strikes and happily stays lit? It's just this lamp off cue that is causing problems?

Do you get similar problems if you lamp it off manually without using a cue to trigger it? You mentioned some projectors doing it... more than one? All at one venue?

My instinct would be to look for some kind of automation or device monitoring the lamp state, and attempting an automatic restrike. Certainly not a default behavior I would hope.

What are message above first alarm and what string you sending for lamp off? Is it generički projector lamp on/off from server or?
It looks like projector is trying to strike lamp automatic because unexpected light off (cannot remember does christie have automatic restrike option like barco have)?
I suppose if you send cue for lamp off, logs should be something like light off and without error.

Was having similar problems a few weeks ago with our Solaria One. It was the lamp power supply. We put in a new power supply (our 4th) and all is well for now.

Unexpected Lamp Offs are a Christie thing. Their logging is such that, often, one doesn't get a clue as to what caused the problem. However, looking at the Interrogator Logs and seeing what may be accompanying the unexpected off may point you in the right direction as to the cause.
