Seriously, I think it is the sensor used between the two and possibly that there are multiple sensors in the LSS200. But yes, Harold would be the one to know. I know it affects what the test content uses for determining what mode to put the LSS into.
The firmware will work in any of the models. It detects the hardware. Here are the different models:
