  • Simplex NT CON base

Anyone familiar with the Simplex NT CON bases? I've seen some You Tube videos of someone using one in his home along with a Kneisley xenon lamp & Christie platter.
(it has the Strong made 5 Star soundhead & PR-1014 head on it) I fist saw this in an online issue of Boxoffice & I believe one on Ebay.

yes, I serviced several smaller multiplexes that had the NT CON bases, they were similar to the Slim Jim bases, except the slim jim didnt have doors and NT Con had the Dual Simplex sound system piggy backed on the rear, and PAS 1000 automation built in under the lamp table. Ones I had worked on were equipped with ORC M 1000s, Strong Super Lume X, and a couple Kneisley Xenex. They were designed to occupy less floor space than a conventional pedestal. The NT Con was the standard set up provided to Jerry Lewis for theirnturn key multi plexes in the 1970s usually a two projector automatic change over system. What else doyou want to know?

John, we had several Jerry Lewis theaters in Chicago, all of which I serviced through the 1990's. Two locations were equipped with NTS XL's, automation, Orcon 1600 watt Lamps and on standard pedestals. The third was a rare twin screen J.L. location. It had two sets of automated Pro-35's with Orcon 1000's. That theater still exists as part of a 14 screen Marcus location today. The original J.L. screens are in the center of one wing of that complex. So J.L. must have used the equipment supplier with the lowest bid back in the day, as there was everything under the sun in them.
