I see a ton of DTS disks for sale. Is the serial number on the disk matched to a print or matched to a movie?

It's matched to a given version or audio mix of a movie. For example, the Spanish dub of a feature would have a different DTS serial number to the English original, or if that English original was cut slightly by censors in another English-speaking country, the result would be another DTS audio track for those prints, with a different serial. For restored 70mm titles, different configurations of mixes (e.g. the Todd-AO mix with five stage channels and mono surround, and a re-mix for modern 5.1) would also have different serials. But every print of the movie with a given audio mix could use any set of DTS discs, as long as the serials match.

Such a weird thing to promote as a collectible, at stupid prices too. Can't play them on a regular CD player etc.

Star Wars Special Edition DTS Discs, $500?????

$500 wow, I guess just because it says Star Wars!

People list things on ebay at absolutely absurd prices all the time. In no way does it mean that the item is actually worth that amount.

That is just another person that thinks (or hopes) that they have gold and will cash in.

As Rick on the Pawn Stars is always saying, "That's what they're asking, but is that what they're getting?"
