Interstellar Is Going Like Gangbusters
The hardest movie ticket to get this weekend was for a film audiences have been able to watch at home for years: Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar.” The science fiction epic starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway earned $4.5 million from only 166 screens in the U.S. and Canada. Its 70mm IMAX film presentations sold out in minutes, leaving theaters scrambling to add more and people paying up to $300 on the re-sale market.Tags: None

Hans Zimmer's score is visceral enough, let alone with the movie. He'll be in Nashville on Feb 2nd. I may get tickets for that as long as I don't have to sit in the nose bleed section as It's at Bridgestone arena. Main floor tickets are rather pricey though... The gray zones are already sold out...Attached Files

Several co-workers here were talking about how hard it was trying to get tickets
to see this at the local IMAX venue here in San Francisco. I was in that area the
other day and I saw quite a few people lined up at the theater lobby. WICKED,
GLADIATOR, and MOANA, which are all very popular flicks at the moment,
were also playing at the same complex, so no wonder the lobby was packed.

I think you might be referring to TENET. If you watch it on BluRay/DVD you're advised to have the subtitles enabled in order to understand a lot of the dialogue.

I work at an IMAX GT Laser venue and we sold out 11 straight shows. Added 4 more evening shows for the 2nd weekend that are selling fast too. Luckily we have 2 theaters, so we could shift Kraven over without having to cancel any tickets.
pretty unprecedented tbh. We’ve brought back Nolan films before, but never been able to generate this level of interest. this is new release-level. And coincidentally, Interstellar was the last movie that played here on IMAX Film before the laser install.

Haha. Cobra. In 70mm Ultra Stereo.
Only 8 theaters in the US and 2 in Canada have been showing Interstellar in real 15/70mm IMAX format. The IMAX company still doesn't do squat to distinguish the differences in the digital-equipped theaters. It could be the usual dual 2K Xenon setup with 5.1 audio. Or maybe it's a single projector laser setup with 5.1 audio. The ones with dual laser projectors and 12 channel audio are still pretty rare.
