I‘m trying to finish an article on "Optical" which - as far as I know - was a small manufacturer of projection lenses from Spain.
On a german projectionist forum I got the information that the brand was actually manufactured by Benoist Berthiot Iberica S.A. - a subsidiary of Benoist Berthiot, a french company which made the Cinestar projection lenses (among others).
Unfortunately that‘s pretty much all I was able to find out. Benoist Berthiot Iberica seems to still be active, however they seem to be a reseller these days and the time they made optics for projection are many decades away. I teached out to the company (as well as the parent company) but didn‘t get any response.
The lenses Optical made were usually called "Proyectar" or "Proiectar" and while many were made in Spain, several were also produced in Italy. So either the company got a plant there as well or some italian maker (like Galileo) produced them.
I‘ve never seen a single ad, spec sheet or price list or book with a mention of the brand, and yet they seem to have produced a good number of lenses in the relatively short period (I suspect 2 decades max.) they were around.
That‘s why I wanted to ask all of you here, if you can tell me anything about the brand, the company behind it or the products they made. I would really appreciate any help!
